The Power of the Mind

Here we are in a New Year and I have to ask you if you have been doing affirmations. Many times I’m asked by skeptics what is so special about affirmations and meditations and the biggest answer is that not only does change come from within, our viewpoints do, too. The subconscious mind is incredibly powerful and when we tap into that power, we create amazing changes in our lives.

The great news is that YOU control that without even thinking about it. You can easily train yourself to exchange that negative self-talk or Bubble Talk for a positive message when you decide to simply change the conversation. I’ve often reminded people that our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a real experience and one that has been imagined. That is why it is so important to do affirmations daily and to include meditations as a part of your day as well.

But back to the much more important point – you create the image of things – good or bad – based on the conversation in your head, and when you choose to change that conversation, you gain so much! You see, we think three dimensionally – with words, pictures, feelings and thoughts – and not in a “straight line”. We may like to believe that we just go “A-B-C-D” but we don’t. Everything that we take in, we filter through our own experiences – not the reality of what we observed, but other things – related and unrelated – that can alter or change our beliefs on the event we observe. Our minds really record things not as what happened, but what we think happened. If you hear a crash in the kitchen and see your cat running out of the kitchen, your mind is already making up the story before you ever set foot in the kitchen – especially if you have a kitty that is accident prone!

In other words, all of our experiences make up this Bubble Talk, and when you train yourself through affirmations and meditations, you can begin to judge and interpret more positively. That’s when the real beauty starts – you’ll begin to experience a shift in consciousness that will make you feel more powerful and centered every day. You can end the negative conversations in your mind and begin to create positive conversations of what you want, not what you don’t want. A subtle shift from negative to positive creates lasting joy in all that you do and how you are able to manifest the things that you want in your life.
